After reading this article regarding EMS Delays in Rural Areas I’m convinced with some thoughtful planning, placement and marketing the Mobilize Rescue System could go a long way towards filling this gap.
How it could work. I can’t even count how many Mass Casualty Incident drills I’ve been involved with where a school bus was part of the scenario. Imagine if instead of waiting for EMS to arrive, each bus had one of the compact rescue systems on board. 
As part of the school safety program all students and staff have access to download the Mobilize app which allows them to use their smart device to assess and treat their fellow injured students using the supplies in the rescue kit. In this scenario EMS arrives and they find a number of injured school kids with life-saving care hemorrhage control already in place. I think that would be awesome. What are your thoughts?
I think its a great idea, in theory. My speedbump is the amount of training required for bus drivers & accompanying chaperones. There’s alot of stuff in that bag/kit. Hopefully they will be required to be trained in something more than First Aid. Something like the free Community Emergency Response Team training. Don’t get me wrong, I am CERT, so I’d appreciate that the incident was already being attended to when I arrived. But, then again rural bus routes is just one piece of this. I do think this is something to talk about…
The interesting thing about these Mobilize kits is the lack of need for medical training. The only thing that people need to do is have the app on their phone or in the case of the larger kits, be able to use a touch screen notepad device. It will walk the user through the assessment and treatment even if they have zero medical training, just a desire to help. I do think the larger kits would be a great addition for any CERT organization as well.
