Overview: Studies tell us a great deal about a typical active shooter event. Community-based education on hemorrhage control in these situations will save lives. The White House “Stop the Bleed” campaign rolled out in October which reinforces the need for this type of training. Their campaign emphasizes that bystanders to Active Shooter incidents, bombings, and other civilian mass casualty events can successfully use tourniquets and hemostatic dressings if bleeding control kits are available and they have had some basic training in the use of these devices. This course is different from most traditional “active shooter” courses. It is designed to help participants understand key strategies and tactics necessary for organizations and individuals to maximize their chance for survival as well as those who may be injured by the perpetrator. Key focus is on realistic response options and common sense mitigation strategies.
Target Audience: Public and private companies, organizations, churches, hospitals, schools, businesses and any venue hosting groups of people.
Duration: Half-day course
