Overview: These courses are designed for the organizations who:
1. Already have a firm grasp of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and want to expand their practical application of the tool and/or;
2. Are smaller organizations wanting to receive education in how to scale and use the HICS to fit their organizations staffing level and standard operating procedures.
Both courses will enhance your hospital’s preparedness and provide personnel with the opportunity to validate and expand their self confidence in applying the HICS. These courses use exercises in a team environment to facilitate discussion and learning. Participants will learn about the Incident Action Planning (IAP) development process in a simulated incident.
The courses are delivered under the context that even though select staff are identified to function in key management roles during emergencies, staffing at the time of the event will determine the initial roles. At the end of the course, all participants will have a better working knowledge of the HICS and be able to function as an effective member of the initial incident management team.
Target Audience: All healthcare organizations and ESF-8 partners
Duration: Courses are six hours in length.
