Overview: While basic awareness-level Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) courses are available, this operations-level course covers the latest revisions and focuses on providing participants with expanded hands-on practice using the HICS regardless of their size, location or patient care capabilities. The training is applicable to support other types of healthcare providers such as rehabilitation centers and urgent care centers. By incorporating and adopting these concepts and tools, organizations will not just be closely aligned with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) but they will be functional as well including the Incident Command System (ICS) and the Incident Action Plan (IAP) development process. This course uses exercises in a team environment to facilitate discussion using local Hazard Vulnerability Assessment scenerios. Participants learn about how the National Incident Management System supports handling expanding incidents and will learn about the Incident Action Planning (IAP) development process in a simulated incident. This course explains ICS event management processes for anyone who may be the initial Incident Commander. Prerequisites: successful completion of ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 is helpful but not required.
Target Audience: All healthcare and public health organizations.
Duration: Course length is six hours
