June 1st will be the official start date of the 2018 hurricane season. The season, according to one forecast may see as many as 18 named storms, with one to five of them developing into major hurricanes.
I will be curious to see if the challenges we saw in 2017 with Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida and the ongoing issues from the devastation Maria brought to Puerto Rico will be repeated. Hopefully everyone got the memo this year that Puerto Rico is an island so logistics might be hard.
The “nice” thing about hurricane preparedness opportunities is that hurricanes, unlike many of the events mother nature throws our way, actually has a season. If we invested in hurricane season preparedness like we spend on preparing for college football season, we’d be set. Go Vols!

Take the time now to do a little reading and follow some of these important tips. The fastest way to recover from a hurricane is to be prepared to recover. We can’t prevent mother nature from throwing hurricanes at us, but she can’t stop us from being ready to bounce back.
