Our top three challenges all relate to the fact that we are a very small and remote CAH facility:
1 - not enough available manpower for all the necessary tasks
2 - staff turnover in key positions
3 - lack of time to train and practice due to other responsibilities
We all wear multiple hats and have long lists of regular responsibilities we have to tend to. Although we have a core group that has been there for years, others come and go, and we cannot seem to ever catch up with training. I'm sure that other facilities have the same challenges, but these things are especially difficult for extremely small and geographically isolated hospitals such as ours.
